We have been receiving support issues ranging from program files being invisible (as in saying it can’t find a file you know is there) to outright alerts of our code being a virus.  These have of course turned out to be false positives, a failure on the part of the antivirus software.  A company that’s been in business for nearly 30 years does not produce viruses.

So far the confirmed failures are Acronis, Avira & ESET, we won’t provide links because that would only help them in a small way.  Apparently they are getting their definition of a byte stream being a virus from the same source, and we suspect others may generate false positives as well.

A final thought.  If your antivirus software can’t tell good software from bad, is it really going to be smart enough to protect you from danger?
